Through our industry association and other community involvement we serve the homeless, those who suffer with life-threatening illnesses, those who are less-fortunate, and always looking for other ways to give back our time, effort & resources.
It was 33 years ago when the Greater Houston Builders Association envisioned a charitable project that would bring the generosity of its builders, developers, and vendors together to give back to Houston – and so began the benefit homes project – with the mission to ensure a brighter future for the community’s less fortunate, through the heart and hands of the homebuilding industry. To date the benefit homes project has raised over 8 million dollars and benefits 3 local and most deserving charities – Texas Children’s Cancer Center, the Alzheimer’s’ Association of Houston and Southeast Texas, and HomeAid Houston. HomeAid Houston is a non-profit charity of the GHBA and builds transitional housing for Houston’s homeless men, women and children. HomeAid identifies agencies that need additional capacity and pairs them with GHBA builders, vendors, and suppliers who donate time, materials and labor to help build and remodel shelters. Through these efforts HomeAid has added more than 8.5 million dollars in real estate to Houston’s homeless community resulting in over 400 beds, and transforming the lives of nearly 5000 people.
